What to know before you go
Voting does not get you in
This repeats every year. Casting a ballot for the All-Star rosters typically earns you a discount code for an unrelated regular-season game, not a seat at the All-Star Game. Meanwhile the tickets that matter go to host-club season-ticket holders first, which is why an out-of-market fan finds nothing available and no explanation of why.
Based on how prior years worked; the Cubs and MLB have not yet published the 2027 mechanics. Confirmed July 2026.
All-Star Week is four events, not one
FanFest and Play Ball Park, the Futures Game, the Home Run Derby, and the Game itself run across several days. People bundle them together in their heads and then build a trip that misses half of it. Deciding which days you actually care about is the first real decision, and it determines where you should stay.
Where to stay
Downtown Chicago gives you the city and reliable transit up to Wrigleyville; staying near the ballpark puts you in the middle of the scene but in a busy residential neighborhood. Either works with the right transfers, and the transfers matter in July.
When to book
Early. Wrigley is small, Chicago in July is busy, and the 2027 ticket plan is not fully published. Locking a downtown hotel and your target days early is how you make sure you are in the building at all.
Confirmed as of July 2026.
